There is a war against motherhood today. Yes, dear friends, we are in trouble—like a ship lost at sea on a dark night. We’ve lost our compass. The anchor is gone. The anchor of every society is the family and home. What anchors the home? A genuine woman of faith - the mother. Now of course the father is to be the head of the home, but the mother is the anchor that keeps the children grounded in day to day life. Together, father and mother are the foundation that the child looks to and views life from. What is said, heard and acted out in the home WILL be copied by the child. In today's world there is a true drive to weaken and destroy the role that knits the family together; to alter the genuine mold that God created for the woman. Whether you are a young woman praying for your future husband and family, or engaged, or planning a family, a mother already, or grandmother... there is power in prayer and you must understand that YOU are vital to your children and grandchildren. Have you met Lois & Eunice? Lois and Eunice are examples of the powerful influence a mother or grandmother can have on a young man’s life. The apostle Paul writes about them... “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also” (read 2 Timothy 1:5). The heart of the home is formed by the mother. With so many mother's away from the home and not there often when the child comes home from school...there is a huge hole in the heart. Mothers are perhaps the most powerful and influential force on the face of the earth. There are many women mentioned in the Bible, whose prayers produced powerful results, and who helping hands aided the apostles and other disciples in the gospel. These "certain" women are mentioned often. Hannah prayed and was so persuasive she changed the course of history. “For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him.” 1 Samuel 1:27
Before you become a mother...
Begin to pray for your future children before their birth. There is nothing greater than to raise a baby for Jesus Christ. Oh, the power of a praying mother! What mother's must do... It’s an incredible thing to pray right out of the Bible, because you know your prayer lines up with the will of God if it comes out of the Word of God. Let me give you a prayer for your child, right from the Word of God, it is in Ephesians 3:14 -21. “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant _________ [insert your child/children’s name] according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in _________’s hearts by faith; that _______, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints, what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ________ might be filled with all the fullness of God.”
