I want, I want, I want. We work so hard, after all we are to be all that we can be, right? We often are like those gerbils running on the treadmill and really getting no where. Everyone seems to have the mentality that we must "do more, strive more and have more" to really be happy in this life. But yet, the more some people have the more they want, so they work harder and run faster to fulfill their desires.
But this lifestyle is a no-winner lifestyle. These people who have this type of desire for pride and greed never have enough and they never feel as if they are satisfied. God's Word clearly tells us, "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." (1 John 2:15). Do we realize that everything that we "own" really owns us? That big mortgage, that new car, motorcycle or boat is nice, but it owns you. It consumes your time (working to pay for it) and energy (to maintain). For everything needs to be maintained, even our relationships. Every good and healthy relationship needs time and maintenance for it to flow into friendship and love. We should prayerfully consider our decisions about what we choose to purchase and also which relationships we seek to bring into our life. But most of all, we need to understand that we REALLY never truly own anything in this life. Only our spiritual life will remains eternal. The only thing we leave this world with is our relationship with our Savior. BUT, if we do not have a relationship with Him, we have nothing, absolutely nothing. Comments are closed.
