Looking for a friend! Interested?

​Marleen Brooks was coming home from work one day when she noticed a strange letter in her mailbox.
She opened the letter and realized that it was a letter from a sweet older woman that lived just right at the end of her street. 
As she read the letter,  her heart broke.

The note read like this:  
​
“Would you consider to become my friend. I’m 90 years old- live alone. All my friends have passed away. I’m so lonesome and scared. Please, I pray for someone.”  -Wanda. 

Wanda had been so lonely that she  took pen in hand and knew she had to reach out to someone;  a neighbor.    With that  note from Wanda, Marleen knew she just had to visit Wanda.  So Marleen  baked some cupcakes and went to visit Wanda the very next evening.  She introduced herself and they sat together and talked. 
The two had a lovely evening getting to know one another.

Elderly Wanda was on oxygen, had congestive heart failure and osteoporosis, along with other issues.  After their visit, Marleen told Wanda to call  her if she needed anything and that she would visit again very soon. 

This lovely story reminds us that everyone needs a friend, to listen and to care.  


​Not all of us have family and friends nearby.   

This week, I hope many of us will "look" for someone that God may place on our path, who needs a friend.   Most importantly, may we be sure to introduce them to Jesus, a Friend that never will leave us or forsake us.
