Healing your wounds...

4/2/2017

Have you ever been injured or had a procedure done where you were given instructions on "how" to care for your wound while it heals?

While working in outpatient dermatology surgery, sad to say, I came across many liars.  Yes, liars.  After their surgery procedure, and while I was bandaging the surgery area, I would go into my verbal explanation of exactly "how" to care for their wound while healing.

I would explain to them how to gently clean the area and how to apply polysporin over the sutures.  When the day came to have their sutures removed, I would unwrap their bandage and low and behold, the truth was revealed.
Did you follow the steps explained on how to care for your wound?     Yes.  (lie)
Did you apply polysporin to the site?    Yes. (lie)
There was no use in telling a lie.  Right there before my eyes I could see a bloody crusted over wound.  Sadly, now removing the crusted over sutures would hurt.   The scabs would now need to be soaked, softened and removed before removing the sutures.

If we do not take care of our wounds and allow them to heal properly, we will suffer.
Emotional wounds can run deep and leave lasting scars on our life. They usually are buried and pushed aside and not given proper care to heal.  Many times we are told to just get over them, forgive and forget; but they lie underneath unhealed.

Unhealed wounds can make their presence known through our negative attitude, addictions and physical ailments.

Our emotional wounds must receive healing and that can only be done when cleansing, love, peace and comfort takes its place. That is done when Christ comes to live within.

Imagine Jesus is standing beside you right at this moment. Look at His face.  There are tears in His eyes and His hand is reaching out to you.  Yes, He feels your hurt and the emotional and physical suffering you are going through. He waits for you to cast ALL your cares upon Him!
Casting all your care upon him; for He cares for you.    1 Peter 5:7

Understand that God loves you beyond what you can possibly imagine!  When you come to understand and receive His love healing begins deep within.  There is no need to continue to worry about the wound that was once there.   All wounds are now turned over to Him and there is no further need to dwell on how badly you were hurt, wronged or treated.

Hide this in your heart and mind:
  • It is not the wound that we suffered that keeps us in bondage.  It is how we react to what was done to us. Remember,   "It has been healed over by the sweet salve of the Savior."
  • Sure the scar may still remain, but that scar is now used to tell others how Christ came to live within and healed us!
  • When God looks at you, He sees a cleansed & new person!  You are washed clean by the blood of Christ.   Your past wounds, failures and sin are gone!
