Have you been asked that question?Naturally when YOU love someone, your greatest desire is to be loved back. You long to hear the words, "Yes, I love you too!" Jesus went to the home of Simon the leper. He is there right before he goes to the cross. He desires to be around those who love him, those for whom HE will die for shortly. Martha was serving dinner and Lazarus was there also (who He had raised from the dead). Mary is on here knees at the feet of Jesus, for Jesus is reclining at a low table ready to eat. She goes to his feet, pours oil and wipes his feet with her hair. She uses oil that is worth a years wages! Expensive oil, most precious oil. Yes, Jesus is surrounded by those He loves and they loved Him! When we love someone we want to be with them always. We love to talk with them and be in their company. We long to be with them. This is what was in the heart of Lazarus and all those present that day. They had a close relationship with Jesus, they desired to be in his presence and absorb every moment. They were not "just" friends. Do you have a close relationship with Jesus or do you "just" know him? Amazingly, Jesus loves us, with all are faults. He desires to be with us every moment of our day. 1 Cor. 1:9 "God is faithful who has called you into fellowship..." Jesus does not want us to run to him just when we are hurting or in need. Do you desire a friend who calls you only when they need something? How amazing to understand that JESUS, the Son of the living God actually desires to fellowship with us, to have us in His presence and to love us completely! Martha was serving... for she shows her love by serving. Mary is there... pouring her love out at his feet. Lazarus is there...clinging to every word. Do you truly love the Lord?
LOVE means you desire to be with Christ, as Lazarus. LOVE means you desire to serve Christ, as Martha. LOVE means you desire to worship Christ, as Mary. Through her actions, adoration and worship Mary, poured out the oil and her heart... unashamed she gets on her knees. What love and devotion does this, not caring what others think of her! Every drop was precious and she poured it all out onto His feet. She does not care what anyone thinks of her actions - she loves Christ with all her heart and desires to reveal it to all and express this to Him. Christ asks... "Do YOU love Me?" We are living in a world that is spiraling out of control. What is wrong is right, what is right is wrong. Sadly, it seems that we are a nation that has pushed God out of our home, our schools, our communities, our nation. We are living without hope when we live without Christ. There is not light but a cloud of darkness hovering over us and that darkness can only be pushed away by His Light. Do we truly love God? No. Can we turn around and change it all? Yes. With GOD all things are possible. Comments are closed.
