Did you know...

12/13/2020

It is said that I have "10" seconds to get your attention when you visit a blog page.  Give me "3" minutes!

CHRISTMAS is here.
To most, it is all things "joyful and bright."

It's shopping, wish lists and food.
It's singing carols and gathering together (online for certain in 2020).
Others will surely say, "Oh, it is the time we celebrate the birth of Jesus."
Many do just that...  they just remember the story and not the true meaning.

If you could talk with Mary the mother of this babe in the manger, what would you ask her?
  • So tell me about what the Bible states - "An angel visited you?"
  • Did this "special" baby run and play, fall and cry like other children?
  • Did you know that he would grow up and change the world?
  • Just WHAT did you know?

What "I" need to know...

Mary, what exaxtly did you know?
We do not know exactly "what" God revealed to her heart and mind.
What we DO know is...
  • that as a very young woman, she "knew" God and had a close relationship to Him.
  • that her faith in God was strong enough and went deep enough to allow God to use her.
  • that her fear of judgement by others and ridicule for being pregnant without a husband would be pushed away by her love and obedience to God.
  • she knew her life was in God's hands before and even more so after the angel Gabriel appeared to her and revealed God' plan for her life.
Many just read the words of her story quickly and miss so much!

Mary ponders.

Luke 2:19 | View whole chapter |
The shepherds are visited by an angel, they follow the star, they tell Mary and Joseph what they experienced - and Mary ponders in her heart!  That's it in a nutshell.

An ordinary young woman, extraordinarily blessed to be used in the service of God, and she too is pondering - thinking about all that she is hearing and experiencing.  GOD is working in her life!

So what am I trying to tell you?

You  and I do not need to understand it all.
When I read Luke, I see a young woman who was told what she needed to know, and then trusted and pondered it all in her heart.   Her trust gave her peace.  Her peace gave her strength for what was coming ahead in her young life.

If I could talk with Mary at this moment, I would joyfully and tearfully say:
  • Mary, did you know this baby boy has pulled me from the pit of sin?
  • Mary, did you know this baby boy has held my hand through heartache and pain?
  • Mary, did you know this baby boy has given me the strength to face each day?
  • Mary, did you know this baby boy has given me the ability to speak truth even when I knew it would hurt my heart and I would be rejected?
  • Mary, did you know this baby boy continually picks me up after each trial and stands with me and fills me with His Spirit to continue walking along the path He has planned for me?
  • Mary, this baby boy, who gave His life, has made me brand new and has promised me an eternal home with Him and my new family of faith for eternity!

The babe in the manager will give you "new" life.

That is ALL I need to know.
That is ALL you need to know.
It is a matter of LIFE - an eternal life in heaven.

The TRUE meaning of the nativity story is this:

The babe in the manger, now a risen Savior, waits for you to come to Him in prayer and ask Him to...
  • pull you up out of the pit of mistakes, heartache, abortion, adultery, loneliness, rejection
  • give you "new" life "in" Him and be your strength and Savior (only Jesus can do this for you)
  • fill your life with peace, contentment and inner joy (sure the world can make us unhappy, but this world can never steal the inner joy of a genuine child of God)

I truly hope that these "3" minutes you spent with me today, has touched your heart in some way to understand the truth about the babe in the manger that we are remembering on Christmas.

May today be the day that you are SURE that HE is your Savior!
