![]() Christ tells us, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." We often are nervous or fearful about "shining bright" for Christ. People may think we're strange, talk too much about faith and we make them uncomfortable with their own unbelief. So how do we obey Jesus and let our light shine for Him? ![]() Christ calls us to shine His light, but why are we often so fearful? We all desire to be accepted and fit in with others, and at the same time tell others about how Jesus can save them from sin. As we go through this time of questioning ourselves on "how" and "when," He is teaching us to trust Him and to step out of our comfort zone. He will show us that as we talk, He will work in the heart of another in a very powerful way. All of our “Jesus talk” may seem like it is falling on deaf ears, but we do not know the heart of the person we are speaking with. We all have our own "Jesus talk." By that I mean, our own personal story of what we have gone through in life prior to knowing Jesus as our Savior. As we relate our own trials and past life to others, we may feel it has made no impact on them. We may be discouraged and feel defeated. But Christ is at work through us. We may think, "Lord, I did what you wanted me to do. Why is nothing happening? Why are they not running to You for cleansing of sin?" It is a this time when we must not let our "light" dim, but keep it shining brightly. As long as we are focusing on Him and asking for His guidance in all we speak and do, our light will continue to give off His brilliant light. Instead of focusing on what to say or do, or feeling uncomfortable, we must focus our mind on Him, knowing that it is not us but Him working within us that enable's us to share our "Jesus talk" with others. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” (2 Cor. 4:6 ) His light within us is amazing! 7 Ways to Keep Your Light Shining It's Brightest 1. The Light of Christ is within you and He is your inner strength. 2. He will give you the words to speak. 3. Take time to listen to others burdens and opinions. 4. You may not think your "Jesus talk" is of any use but the words you speak will make them think. 5. Pray for those who have rejected Christ. They are not rejecting you. Pray for them. 6. Know that God is pleased when you desire to do His will and tell others about salvation. 7. Daily ready the Word of the God and ask Him to hide it in your heart and mind. We may need to do our "Jesus talk" in some pretty dark places and times, but we know that with Christ living within us, our light will continue to shine bright. Our job is to continue to focus on Him and trust Him in all situations. When He tells us to go and tell, He will give us what we need to accomplish His will. So go out there and shine for Christ!
