So we all have heard the rants and ravings of the Women's March that took place on Jan. 21, 2017.
Are you concerned? What kind of question is that? Of course any parent would be concerned. Any parent would carefully consider the options before placing their child in the hands of a surgeon. They would carefully assess the skills and experience of the doctor and ask questions regarding the post operative results. There will be times when you cannot get the words out; a time of shear panic, when your mind is moving so fast.
Faith without works is a dead faith.
For if you say you believe and Christ lives within you, then you will desire to serve Christ and reach others. If you do not possess this desire, the lack of works reveals an unchanged life or a spiritually dead heart. Watch the movie, and then pass it on. Just click on "read more." My eyes fill with tears, as I think upon this child, born in Bethlehem. On him I place my trust, on him I will depend. This babe who now sleeps so peaceful and still, will one day give his life for me on a cross upon a hill. He is so precious, so tiny, yet he came to set me free. I cannot bear to think upon what he endured for me on Calvary. Yes, the child is more than just a person who is written about in history. He is my every breath, the One my heart desires, the One who will set me free! As a woman of faith who chose to trust God and support the person who would protect the unborn and the sanctity of marriage, I AM OVERJOYED TODAY and thank GOD for HIS intervention. For surely this was a GOD-made victory. As I watched CNN and ABC early this morning for the reaction, all were puzzled by "how" this happened and were perplexed at "what" they would tell their children about this election. In a year of political name calling, mingled in with lies and deceit, can we be thankful? When our cities are falling deeper into darkness and the murder rate is the highest it has been in 40 years, can we be thankful? When babies are still being aborted and even days before their birth, can we still be thankful? When a generation is coming up in age that denies the very existence of God, can we be thankful? Yes, at times it is VERY hard to say we are thankful. But I awoke today to a new day, I am breathing, this heart is pumping, I can see the fallen leaves, I can hear the voice of my husband. Yes, as I prepare for the coming thanksgiving, I am thankful. Just what "is" a woman of strength? Is she someone who can face the trials of life without shedding a tear? Someone who can work ten hours a day and still be a super wife and mother at home? Does she run 5 miles before the break of dawn? Let's begin by asking, what is Samhain? Samhain (saah-ween) is the original name of the Celtic pagan ritual which in Northern America we now call Halloween. It has pre-Christian roots (meaning it began before Christ was born). This "ritual" was held at the end of harvest, just before the beginning of winter. This was halfway between the autumn equinox and winter solstice. Why?
It has been said that our church family is often closer to us than our real family.
Many times I have found that to be so true, especially when there is family who do not yet know Christ and have no idea of spiritual needs. In my darkest times, it has been those in my church who have sat along side me and prayed for me. At other times my emotional need was met by the sermon I heard from the pulpit, or the song sung so sweetly by a choir member. Those who are like-minded in heart can touch our lives in many ways. We get into the car each day and instinctively do it. As we turn the ignition, we glance in our side and rear view mirrors. They are safety features and looking at what is behind us can be helpful when driving to avoid accidents. But in some instances it may not be a good idea to keep looking a what is behind you. Why is that? Living in the mountains, I am surrounded by national forests and hiking trails. The freshness and quietness of the wooded trail can be a refreshing both emotionally and physically. How relaxing to get off alone and hear nothing but the crunching of leaves beneath your feet and the experiencing sights and sounds of nature! But what if you find yourself lost? Would that same inviting trial seems so refreshing? |
