Your immune system...

Your immune system...
protects your body from bacteria, virus, fungi and other harmful organisms.
But toxins in food, the environment, poor diet and stress can all contribute to a decline in immune system activity.  If it is weakened, your body is subject to fatigue,
illness and infections.

Your immune system cells are produced by the thymus glannd, the spleen and other organs.  They are then carried through the body via the lymph vessels to the lymph nodes, which store these cells and help to create an effective barrier against infection.

They can be damaged by unstable oxygen molecules in the body called free radicals which can be generated by poor nutrition, alcohol, cigarettes, pollutants and xray exposure.

What can you do to protect and strength the immune system?
  1. Protect cells with vitamins... such as Vitamins A, C & E, known as antioxidants that stimulate immunity and protect agains free radicals.
  2. Exercise...get up and move!  Engage in moderate exercise for an hour each day to ensure plenty intake of fresh air which promotes oxygen exchange between blood and air and speeds metabolism which leads to efficient mobilization of energy from nutrients.
  3. Reduce stress...sure easier said.   Scientific study shows that stress weakens your immune system.  Try some valerian tea, or lavender oil.  Find a quiet place during lunch and breath!
  4. Strengthen the thymus gland.   It is located in the upper part of your chest behind the breastbone and is a nursery for immune system cells that help fight infection.  This organ shrinks as we get older and its effectiveness diminishes.   Here is something I was told many years ago to stimulate the thymus and boost the immune system:  Each morning, tap on the middle of the breast bone with your fingers for 5 minutes.  (See video below for demonstration)
  5. Natural healing...Use natural herbs such as chopped garlic, horseradish, oregano, rosemary or onions.  Include them in your meals to fight bacteria.  They are natural antibacterials.  Natural healing techniques such as massage can help speed the removal of toxins.
  6. DRINK WATER...stop reaching for the  coffee, tea and soda.  DRINK WATER.
