Got wrinkles? CoQ10 is naturally present in the human body and is used to generate energy, especially by the heart and other muscles. As we live longer, declining levels are associated with lower energy and cholesterol med's known as statins are known to also cause a depletion. But now, it turns out that CoQ10 can counteract some of the outward signs of aging. A European study of 33 healthy people, published in the journal called BioFactors, found that compared to a dummy pill, taking CoQ10 daily for 12 weeks reduced the wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, mouth, lips and improved skin smoothness and firmness! So taking it for my heart is great, but now there is another reason to take it. Got pain? There is drug-free relief from joint pain. My husband has been using this for the past 2 years for knee and ankle pain since having a rod placed in his lower leg after an auto accident. It is a spice called tumeric. Research has found that the curry spice tumeric has extracts that can be as effective as mild pain drugs (such as ibuprofen) for treating joint stiffness and pain. The review by South Korean scientists, was published in the Journal of Medicinal Food. The study included 937 people, mostly middle-aged and older, but also some as young as 18, suffering from joint stiffness, osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis. I know it works for my husband and as an added benefit it also caused him to lose about ten pounds. Just an added bonus I guess! Comments are closed.
