Why is "living healthy" honoring God?

You think you are doing the best you can.  You try to eat healthy and not feed yourself and family, food prepared "from a box" for dinner. 

You buy those so-called healthy shakes and bars, and try to buy fresh fruit and vegetables rather than canned.  
You believe you are doing O.K and giving your body what it needs.  
But often there are symptoms that slowly appear, trying to warn us that something is amiss.  

Is God's masterpiece -- your body, trying to tell you something? 
​Are you listening? 


As women of faith, who desire to honor God in all things,
we must also honor Him with our body.
 

We honor God not only in how we dress and relate to others, but also in how we care for our body.   Long before there are signs and symptoms of a problem, we should desire to give this amazing masterpiece He created, what it needs to function on a day to day basis.

Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit,
which are God’s. 
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

God tells us that our bodies are a temple and that we were bought with a price. With this in mind, we should have a desire to care for and not defile our body with drugs, alcohol, sexual sin, etc. - but  we should strive to care for our body with proper nutrition, along with living a simple and natural lifestyle.  Less IS more in life. 

Along with changing my eating habits and giving my body what it needed to heal,  I also made it my goal to avoid those cancer-causing, man-made chemicals that are in so many beauty and cleaning products.  I know take the time twice yearly to make my own soap and creams and use essential oils. 

If you are suffering with pain, depression, weight, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol...
I could go on and on here... ask God to give you wisdom to find the answers; to find the information on what you can do for yourself to regain health.  Read, research and rely on His guidance. 
Ask, He will show you.  

Be honest and ask yourself, "Am I really honoring God with my body? Am I caring for my body in my lifestyle, in my eating habits?"  

For one week, write down everything you eat.  Then look it over and be honest.  
How much "live" food did you eat?  Live meaning uncooked.  Fresh fruit and vegetables.  
How much bread, pasta, pizza and soda?   All food we eat does not "nourish" the body. 


Contrary to popular belief, we do not need to get lathered up with chemical-laden sunscreen and hide from the sun.   Sunshine = Vitamin D.  We all need at least 10 minutes a day in the sunshine. 
Vitamin D also fights depression, protects our teeth & bones, boosts weight loss. 
This is just "1" vitamin.  Imagine if you were deficient in many?

We are to be good stewards of this body He has created.  It is up to us to care for what He has created the best we can, honoring Him.   

May we all honor Him in our desire to live a life that is nourishing to our body.  Then may we pass on this respect for what He has blessed us with to our children by teaching them how to honor and care for the body, how to live a life that protects the body from harm and then how we must make our life count in service to Him. May we do all to honor Him!
