Can supplements help? 

Getting the flu vaccine is what we are instructed to do.  Doctors will say it is the primary way of preventing you from getting the flu, but there are many natural ways to keep your immune system strong which may help you fight the virus from infecting your healthy cells and body. 

Beginning in November, my husband and I begin taking our oregano capsules daily. 
We have found using oregano helps kill any virus or bacteria we may come in contact with.  Using those alcohol gel hand cleansers is not all they are cracked up to be, so do not rely on them to kill ALL the germs on your hands.  Wash with soap and water as soon as you can and often.  Do not touch your face, nose or eyes unless you know your hands are soapy clean. 

Keep you immune system strong by using daily supplements of Vitamin D, probiotics and Zinc.  These may help lessen the symptoms and the flu if you do feel you have it and you can recover faster.   

Many studies show that Vitamin D does play a vital role in the human immune system and may even reduce your risk of certain viral and bacterial infections.  1-2


​ZINC is required for many metabolic processes in the body and it also plays an integral role in maintaining a healthy and strong immune system. 3 

In addition to vitamin D and zinc, probiotics (the good bacteria) offer powerful immune system protection.  Most people think of probiotics when they consider their digestive health, but they are also important in the immune system as they reside in your GI tract.  

Probiotics also may help restore the balance of good bacteria in your GI tract, when you have a healthy GI tract it works to keep your immunity in better shape. 4   Many of the probiotic strains have undergone many studies and show that they do help to protect the delicate tissue and balance of the GI tract.  A healthy GI tract can help you keep away the virus and keep it from spreading throughout your body. 5
