Go to bed, you'll look better and maybe get thinner!

No kidding... go to bed before 10pm. 

Telling someone they look tired says more about your perception of them than you might think.  Hey, I know there are days, maybe many, when I look like...well, worn. 
Let's face it, a sleep-deprived person, with a tired-looking face, and with dark circles under the eyes and swollen eyelids [4], is not too attractive and certainly does not look healthy. 

According to one study, the secret to looking our best and feeling good is not in any particular beauty cream or in anything found in the health food store. It is something that we all can do and something that we neglect.  Yup, it is sleep.  Beauty sleep is real! 

People who slept at least nine hours every night were the one's who looked and felt their best after a good nights sleep. Get in bed by 10pm if you need to be up by 7am. 

As far as health and beauty is concerned, it is WELL worth it to invest in a good mattress and to sleep in a quiet environment.  Poor sleep not only causes fatigue and diminished alertness, but also circles under the eyes and more wrinkles!  

Did you know...
  • Sleep is when the body relaxes and repairs itself.
  • When you sleep, blood flow increases, and skin can rebuild collagen and can also repair damage from  like UV exposure
  • Increased blood flow also helps in reducing wrinkles and age spots.
  • Weight - hate to tell you this, but, sleep deprivation is associated with increased hunger and weight gain. The American Heart Association states that people eat over 500 additional calories when they are tired. [5]


So get a pre-bedtime routine of slowing down...
​turn off the cell and computer, be sure the room is dark and quiet...and go to sleep.
