You are in the mall and you can smell the aroma. You are watching your favorite show or maybe in bed reading. You can feel the temptation coming. Any second you will have to make a decision. "Do I or Don't I?" Your mind is saying NO. Your taste buds and stomach are saying "Yes! Yes!"
Did you know that most of the time these cravings are not because we are actually hungry, but because we are stressed, bored or habitual.
And they are NOT easy to ignore, willpower is at a severe low, especially when you are alone or tired.
So to help you resist those "unhealthy" urges and binges, I hope to pass on a few things that have helped me.
#1 - Be prepared for them!
Whether at work on running errands or at home, be sure your have some "healthy" snacks that you can quickly grab before you give in to grabbing the unhealthy foods.
#2 - Remember that the craving will pass & "why" you may be getting these cravings.
When the craving thoughts come to mind, change the channel! Think of something else. Think of walking on the beach or loved one's. Imagine walking through the woods and the sights and sounds an awesome Creator has given. Distract the brain from food. Ask yourself, "Am I bored, depressed, lonely, hooked on an eating habit?" Get hooked on thanking God for the daily blessings, think on them.
#3- Grab the water.
Drink before you reach. Four simple words to remember. Drink before you reach.
Filling you stomach with water that your body usually NEVER has enough of may help you forget what you were just craving for.
These are just "3" simple things.
But please know that sharing your thoughts and being with other like-minded friends who
also desire to be healthier and maintain the proper weight is also a blessing.
We are doing this no w at our church with like-minded sister's in Christ. It is filled with biblical encouragement, helpful info from everyone and lots of laughter.
For years I have loved listening to Chonda Pierce.
If you do not know Chonda, she is a woman of faith who also is a comedian. She really hits home with some of her presentations.
