I was once invited to join a ZUMBA class and I laughed. Now not that I do not admire those that choose to do zumba, but it is not for me.
Why would I desire to do such vigorous exercise when I know it is not necessary. It is actually NOT good for some people and I would say that too much exercise can actually do more harm than good. So don't be too quick to judge my words. Ditch the "exercise" and read on.
Anyone with eyes can see that strenous exercise puts a great deal of stress on the body.
For most it takes more work on the part of the body to recuperate "after" exercise in the recovery stage. You see after putting so much stress on the body, your body gets busy trying to get back to normal. Sure some may state they that "feeling of euphoria" after exercise, a feeling a energy, but the recovery then takes over.
Some people, after exercise feel exhausted...this means they are doing too much and putting too much stress on the body and often the adrenal glands. Now your body is in real stress and you are in a worse state of health than when you started!
So now what? Forget the exercise!
All you need to do is "move." Yes move. Get off the couch or up from that computer desk and move. Moving will get your immune system going, blood flowing and all that keeps the body happy. Walk around your house a few times daily. Then walk around the block, then try to build up to a greater distance.
Listen to your body. It will tell you how to pace yourself. Please do not start jogging and putting all that stress on your knees, ankles and hips. Start slowly and just walk. You will see your body ask for more as you build up and lengthen your walks.
Who needs an instructor yelling out commands to go faster and faster? Nonsense.
Go easy on your body and just MOVE. If you don't move it, you will lose it!
If you have adrenal issues or thyroid issues, your body is under ENOUGH stress, so do not try to overwhelm the body with MORE stress.
Some days you may needs to skip the walks and maybe just do stretch exercises.
Slow, flowing stretching movement will do wonders in keeping your body in shape.
Remember, it is MOVEMENT, not exercise.
You may want to stretch and lift some hand weights to tone your arms and chest and walk around the house a few times. Just listen to your body and move and stretch.
I will say "no thanks" to the aerobics and zumba classes, along with the fast-paced treadmill sessions. Why kill yourself, when all you need to do to stay fit is move, walk and stretch.
Your body will thank you and so will your knees, ankles and hips as you get older!
