In the morning I never use soap on my face.
Not even the homemade soap that I make myself twice yearly which is great for my skin. I just use cool water and pat dry.
The reason for this is that you do not want to strip your skin of the natural oils. This is especially true for aging skin.
If your skin is dry and then you apply makeup (as so many do in the morning) your skin will appear dry, cake-y and wrinkles will be so much more noticeable.
